More than 400 students from four public elementary schools have received school uniform and shoes, bags and school supplies from Insular Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Insular Life (InLife).

In time for the return of face-to-face classes, the Foundation through Adopt-A-Scholar Program turned over the school supplies to the student beneficiaries from Itaas Elementary School Main, Alabang Elementary School Main, and Bayanan Elementary School Main in Muntinlupa; and Balili Elementary School Main in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Insular Foundation program manager Teresita Melad said it is heartwarming to be part of the physical turnover of school supplies to the scholars this year. She noted that during the last two years, the Adopt-A-Scholar Program turnover event was done virtually, and the school supplies were given to the students’ parents.

“More than the school materials that our employees donate every school year for the last six years, the Adopt-A-Scholar Program’s enduring presence in the lives of our scholars sets this program apart from other similar initiatives. It gives us immense fulfillment to realize that Insular Foundation, through the generosity of InLife employees, makes an impact to the lives of the beneficiaries of its Adopt-A-Scholar Program,” Melad said.

The Foundation also awarded cash prizes to the top three scholars from each of the four partner schools.

On behalf of the student beneficiaries, David Cullen Alzate, Grade 5 student from Itaas Elementary School, expressed appreciation to the InLife employees who sponsor their school supplies. “I would like to thank Insular Foundation for helping us students through the Adopt-A-Scholar Program. For six years, you are part of our school journey. We will study well, and we will finish our studies,” he said.

His mother Michelle Alzate, echoed their gratitude to Insular Foundation. “Even during the pandemic, the Adopt-A-Scholar Program continued to help the students. We, the parents of the scholars, wholeheartedly thank the Insular Foundation for giving school supplies, internet load, and cash incentives to our children,” she said.

Dr. Shella Navarro, Alabang Elementary School Principal, also thanked Insular Foundation for helping the students as well as the teachers. “The teachers, Department of Education and private institutions like the Insular Foundation joined hands to help provide a meaningful and safe return-to-school to our students.”

Since 2003, the Adopt-A-Scholar Program enables InLife employees to adopt Grade 1 students from the Foundation’s partner schools. Through the yearly employees’ donation, the Foundation provides school uniform and shoes, bags and school supplies, to the adopted students until they complete the elementary level.
