Insular Health Care Chief Information Security Officer awarded Best CISO in insurance industry
Insular Health Care (IHC) Chief Information Security Officer Russell A. Hernandez was awarded as the Best Chief Information Security Officer in the Insurance Industry Category during the first I Am Secure Cybersecurity Excellence Awards 2022.
Hernandez is also the Head of Insular Life’s (InLife) Information Security Governance and is its Data Protection Officer. IHC is the wholly-owned health maintenance organization subsidiary of InLife.
Hernandez is a veteran in the cyber security field, leading information security and data privacy programs in the various companies he was previously part of. “As we bring our products and services to our clients, we always make sure that security is woven into the platform they use. Our products are now available via different channels, making life and health insurance accessible 24/7, wherever they may be. As such, it is important that all these integrations, system developments, and infrastructure changes follow security assessments and data sharing agreement protocols,” said Hernandez.
The award, given by the Information Security Officers Group (ISOG), recognizes outstanding Filipino Cybersecurity experts and leaders who contributed and shaped the country cyber landscape and made an exceptional global impact. The ISOG’s first awards ceremony recognized twenty individuals—Chief Information Security Officers, Chief Risk Officers, Risk Management Officers, Chief Information Officers, Chief Technology Officers and Data Privacy Officers who showed exceptional leadership and contributions in various industries such as Banking and Finance, Insurance, Government and Public Sector, Business Process Outsourcing, Manufacturing, Healthcare: Hospitals and Health Maintenance Organizations, Academe, and Transportation.
ISOG is the umbrella organization of information security leaders from more than 600 companies belonging to the following industries: telecommunications, media, insurance, retail, academe, e-commerce, public sector, logistics, medial, hotels, transportation, technology and non-profit. It is committed to strengthening information security through awareness and education programs, promoting community and fellowship among its members.
